Keeping up with Triplet sleep habits...

Isn't that an idea. It's difficult enough, as many mothers would know, to keep up with one child and their sleep patterns. Eventually they get older and can sleep through the night, but add in two additional tiny tots and sleep is the most elusive trickster on the planet.

It wasn't too bad but I was having difficulties with one of the triplets. She is so energetic and doesn't seem to require a lot of sleep. Recently, she's been better at sleeping and will either get up two times before midnight then sleep till about 6:30 AM, or she will get up once around 2 or 3 in the morning, then sleep till 7 or 8 AM. It wears you down, and gets more wearisome when the others decide they need to wake up too. So my 10 min "get her back to sleep" turns into 30-40 min. That's when it really grates on my own sleep and makes me feel exhausted the next day.

I've tried a few different things, including trying to get them to sleep later at night. Currently, their bedtime is about 7 PM. They start getting cranky around 6:30 PM and it takes all I have to not go crazy while waiting to get them down. I gave in a few times when they started sleeping longer and put them down between 6-6:30 PM. Not a good idea. They all were up at least twice, sometimes three times on nights I did that.

Now, a new morning routine might be in the works. I heard what I thought was once baby this morning about 4:30 AM. Went down and was planning to changer her butt, give her a bottle and put her back to sleep. Nope. All three were wide awake and bouncing in their cribs. I got them all upstairs, butts changed, and gave them bottles. Then, they seemed content to play and try to hang all over me. Fun times. lol.

They started to get fussy like they do for bed about 6:45 AM, so they are currently in their room taking a morning nap. Unusual for them since them normally only take once nap a day. But, this will work out since I can have them up by about 9, if they don't get up earlier than that, and still give them an hour or so nap this afternoon.

Is it too much to hope that this might get them to sleep through the night tonight??

Can't complain too much as they did sleep soundly until they were wide awake this morning, which means I'm wide awake and up for the day. No naps for me. *sigh* Least I can have some quiet-ish time this morning to get some work done.
