Damon Volkenheim
Damon, being a part of the quintet set of brothers, has the same height and basic features as Dante. However, Damon has Blue eyes and prefers to keep his hair about shoulder length, sometimes growing it out to his shoulder blades. He mainly keeps it tied at the base of his neck, and, depending on what his learning focus is, will opt to have layers, allowing for the front parts of his hair to frame his face.
Damon can be said to be the mediator brother. A role he shared with Dedric (the deceased brother). While all the brothers are highly intelligent, Damon makes sure to think of all the angles and outcomes. This also makes him wearier and more hesitant when it comes to investigating/learning new magics and trusting new people. However, his weariness has faded over the four millennia that he has lived. This was due, in part, to him becoming better adapt at reading people. A sixth sense almost.
A little nugget was laid in Volkenheim about how, before Damon found Naomi, he had a same-sex partner for a time. Damon was never one to rigidly stay in the lines of “this is how it has to be done” and followed what meshed with him. His partners name was Laine. They had gotten along famously and were just friends for a time, but both had realized that there was a deeper connection between the two of them. When it was time for the brothers to move again, Laine was becoming aware that Damon did not age normally. Since Damon does not believe in killing as a way to solve an issue (unless there is no other choice, such as with their father), he opted to fake his own death. Damon attended Laine’s burial some ten years later when he was killed in a raid from the neighboring city.
Those ten years they were apart were hard for Damon. He had the most doubt about Soul Mate magic though it was difficult to gauge this from him. It was also another reason he went forward with a relationship with Laine rather than having a brief affair and moving on like his brothers tended to do. Damon wanted a strong connection, and when Laine died, Damon became very reclusive. He shut himself away studying all he could on Soul Mate magic. He conducted magical experiments trying to see if he could accelerate the process. But, without proper hosts and the limited knowledge he had, the experiments were failures.
So, Damon refocused his attention on refining his magic: Master Teleporter. Being a teleporting doesn’t seem like it would be all that great, but, at the capacity at which Damon could do it, he seemed like a God. All magic users have the ability to teleport, but it takes a toll on the users body. Being a Master Teleporter means this toll is significantly less, and, depending on the strength of mind and body of the Master, does not begin to take its’ affect until so much has been done. In Damon’s case, he could teleport the whole capital city of Osos on Vogriprica, which consisted of about 500,000 people, and barely break a sweat. The only way one would know that it was hitting him was that his breathing became slightly ragged.
Now, in a master’s case, the teleporter can also move objects rather than just people. This takes a different toll on the castor because objects, especially if they are solid or building and such, have excessive weight. Most people find it exhausting to move everyday objects such as furniture. Damon has the ability to literally move mountains. His highest count was three at one time. (Think Mt. Kilimanjaro size for comparison). Damon rarely does this unless absolutely necessary because there needs to be a place to move such things to, and there also runs the risk of killing innocent bystanders.
Ironically, it was in his quest to heighten how much land mass he could move that he found Naomi. She was a sunny day for him. He had never thought he would be able to find such a connection as he had with Laine, but there she was. His weariness and disbelief of Soul Magic was rendered obsolete because it had finally worked for him. Of course, Damon was the first brother to find his soul mate and they had only had their immortality for about 250 years. Bottom line is Damon has a flaw. He has no extended patience. Which is interesting since he was one of the mediator brothers. To put it into perspective, his max patience tends to fall away after a year. His own weird timeline that no one can really explain. It is just his flaw/quirk.
