Damarcus Volkenheim

Damarcus is what can be considered a black sheep, almost. He was the one who was outcast-ed by his family and manipulated the most by their father, Victor. The main reason for this is, due to Victor's skills in magic, he was able to gauge that Damarcus had the capabilities of becoming the next true Seer. Once Damarcus began to show these magical properties, Victor began to exploit them and began to use Damarcus to try and get the other brothers to comply.

Damarcus was the first of the brothers to begin manifesting his primary magic. For a few years, he would just journal about these strange dreams he had, not realizing they were visions. However, one vision came about a little too close to home. Damarcus started looking into other events that coincided with his 'dreams' he had journeled about. Connecting the dots, he went to his father first, and this proved to be the biggest mistake of his life. Of course, Damarcus was only around six at the time, so he didn't fully understand what a monumental mistake it was to relay this discovery to his father. And, he didn't fully realize how manipulative and controlling his father was after this discovery of his gift until it was far too late.

Adding on to this, the brothers never got a lot of time with their father unless there was promise of a spike in their magical activity. So, when Victor began to 'groom' Damarcus after his revealing of his dreams, he thrived off the attention. And he used this facade bonding as an excuse for his fathers behavior toward the others. However, when Damarcus began to defy his father, and things turned nasty, those bonds shattered. Damarcus could finally see his father for what he was and what he was trying to do, but it was too late.

Damarcus tried numerous times to get his brothers to help him, but Victor's shenanigans as him hadn't helped keep him in his brothers good graces. They thought he was cruel and selfish. Dedric was the only one who would always agree and try to listen and help Damarcus. Even when "accidents" began to happen to him. These incidents drove Damarcus further away from his brothers and their help. When Dedric died, Damarcus thought all was lost. That his brothers would never listen to him again. But, with Dedric gone, Victor turned his rage/frustration on him. So, Damarcus tried a few more times to get his brothers help. This time, the consequences were worse.

To reign Damarcus in, Victor told him that every time he went to his brothers for help, he would annihilate one family and multiple it for every further disobedience. Damarcus, still clinging to one last false hope that his father wasn't that insane, went to his brothers 14 more times. Victor held true to his threat. The multiplication factor led an entire village to be wiped off the map.

After Damarcus's last plea to his brothers, before they fled when they were 18, Damarcus fell into a deep state of despair. Victor, displeased at the state Damarcus was in, decided to keep him locked away in a dungeon to rot for eternity - as immortality was already guaranteed for Damarcus due to his rare gift. As the battles between Victor and his remaining three sons - Dante, Damon, and Dartanian- continued, Victor poured out his hate and malice on Damarcus, putting him through horrendous tortures. Damarcus learned to stop crying out, to stop crying for help.

It was a small reprieve when Victor vanished for some reason. Damarcus was chained to a wall, but the silence, the loss of unending pain, was comforting. When the chains on him and the barriers suddenly lifted one day, a small spark was ignited in Damarcus. One he never anticipated to be residing within him. Taking this small chance, fanning this spark and turning it into a roaring flame, Damarcus fled. Fled and vanished, living off grid for years.

But, his guilt was still very present and consuming. Wanting to find an outlet in magic to punish himself, Damarcus decided to pursue becoming a Pain Bearer. Unbeknownst to him, his brother Dante was already on that path. There had been a split in council decision and at this time, two Pain Bearers lived. The council thought this was good, that perhaps having more Pain Bearers would quell the need for populaces to rebel. They were wrong. The Pain Bearer that became Damarcus's Master was beyond cruel. This Master was the elder of the two and had taken a dark turn somewhere in his life. He was cruel and heartless.

Damarcus tried to hang on, but when faced with his 50 year challenge, he couldn't do it. Damarcus fled his Pain Bearer Master and lived in isolation once again. Not long after that, a new Master found him, and in quite a state. Damarcus's true power, Seer magic, was taking it's toll on him and he had no idea how to manage it. Damarcus's Master of Seer magic was the complete opposite of his previous Master, but it still took some time to form a bond. Once Damarcus had opened up to his Master, his Master called upon a God of Magic to secure Damarcus in a safe haven. To be able to learn and live without fear of being found and subjected to the horrors of his past once again.

And so, Damarcus lived his life. Honed his gift and become the next true Seer in the world. He was completely sated to live by himself. That changed when a monumental vision came his way. Sneaking out of his haven, Damarcus began to piece the visions together. Learning his father was still alive Damarcus began to plan his revenge. He had not counted on intervening when his brothers got involved. And he had not planned to get reunited with them. But once surrounded by his family, his brothers, it dawned on him how much he did want family. He was tired of being alone. Besides, having brothers was the best thing. A Seer didn't have any romantic entanglements. Damarcus was wrong about that.
